KEY PLAYS
Royal quarterback Shaun Christensen picked up running back Ralph Blanks’ fumble and ran 47 yards for a touchdown with 3:51 left in the game to give Royal all the insurance it needed, 31-17. . . .Blanks returned a kickoff 78 yards down to the Mira Costa 26-yard line and seven plays later he scored from seven yards out to give the Highlanders a 24-17 lead with 8:17 left in the game. . . .Christensen was intercepted by Mira Costa’s Jim Regan in the end zone but a roughing-the-passer penalty nullified the play. Two plays later Christensen threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Roger Greene for Royal’s first score.
KEY PLAYERS
Quarterback Shaun Christensen (R) was 8 of 12 for 106 yards and 1 touchdown. He rushed for two touchdowns and even kicked a 33-yard field goal. Running back Ralph Blanks (R) carried 19 times for 101 yards and 1 touchdown and returned kickoffs for 78 and 40 yards which led to Royal scores. Running back Eric Crook (MC) had 20 carries for 91 yards and 1 touchdown. Quarterback Randy Peirce (MC) was 9 of 16 for 118 yards and 1 touchdown.
