OCC Soccer Team Gets First Victory

Orange Coast College (1-5-4) earned its first victory of the season, beating Irvine Valley, 2-1, in a South Coast Conference soccer match at Costa Mesa Tuesday.
Both the Pirates’ goals were by forward Clay Sampson, and Irvine Valley got its goal from midfielder Jim Coffinberry. OCC fourth-string goalie Gary Kribbs, who hadn’t played the position in four years, turned in a good performance as the team was forced to press him into service after one goalie quit and two others were snowed in at Big Bear. The Pirates play at Rancho Santiago Friday.
