Mark Silverstein claims Barbra Streisand’s new album of Broadway show tunes is a gamble (Calendar Letters, Nov. 10).
Hogwash! Her last “jump on the bandwagon” rock album was a commercial disappointment, and now she has recorded a safe bet that is sure to find its calculated way into many a Christmas stocking.
As for Stephen Sondheim’s song getting more exposure--he doesn’t need to be exposed by the likes of a screaming meemie like Streisand. Lay off Dan Sullivan. His review (“Streisand Does It Her Way,” Nov. 3) was far too kind.
