Rose Parade Float: Volunteers are being sought to work on the city’s entry in the 1986 Tournament of Roses Parade, a float depicting “Friday on the Freeway” in Southern California. Santa Ana’s Parade Committee began meeting in April to organize fund-raising and volunteer efforts. Work has already begun on the float, a humorous view of a typical rush hour. Those interested in participating can call (714) 973-6115. The float will depict tourists stuck behind a broken-down chicken truck, surfers, skateboarders and a low-rider car--which will be a replica of the winner of a low-rider contest held in downtown Santa Ana recently.
