Pearson, Anastas Get Volleyball Honors

SAN DIEGO — Senior Kate Pearson of La Jolla High School was named San Diego Section 2-A volleyball player of the year and junior Deanne Anastas of Poway was selected as 3-A player of the year, CIF officials announced.
Pearson, who led La Jolla to its fourth straight 2-A championship, was joined by teammate Tania Warner, a senior.
Also named to the 2-A team were Anita Eischen of Marian and Pat Poore of El Camino, both seniors, and Tracy Hughes of Francis Parker and Carrie Luttio of San Pasqual, both juniors.
Poway, the 3-A champion for the second year in a row, was represented on the team by both Anastas and sophomore Cherie Boyer.
Also picked for the 3-A team were seniors Jessica Benton of Point Loma, Melissa Stokes of Granite Hills, Dana Beardsley of Bonita Vista and Marsha Gale of Mt. Carmel.
