Canyons Women Win on 2nd-Half Surge

The College of the Canyons women’s basketball team Friday night came from behind in the second half to defeat Allan Hancock College, 67-56.
Trailing at the half, 36-26, the Cougars applied a full-court press that forced turnovers and allowed them to take the lead with 10 minutes left in the game.
Freshman guard Ruth Fierro led the Cougars with 18 points, while sophomore center Julie Fauria had 14 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Freshman point guard Patty Miller had nine steals.
