Gov. George Deukmejian was chairman of the California Republican Party for 15 minutes Saturday as he presided over a party executive committee meeting in Los Angeles.
First, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who is running for the U.S. Senate, stepped down from the chairmanship. Then, party spokesman Joe Irvin reported, Deukmejian took over briefly as the committee chose former Rep. Clair Burgener, 64, of Rancho Santa Fe as permanent chairman through February, 1987.
Bill Park of Bakersfield will remain as vice chairman and will seek the party chairmanship in 1987.
