Cyprus Vote Today May Affect Talks With Turks

NICOSIA, Cyprus — Greek Cypriots elect a Parliament today, with two opposition parties hoping to gain enough strength to force President Spyros Kyprianou to include them in peace talks with the island’s Turkish Cypriot minority.
Kyprianou’s governing Democratic Party is facing a strong challenge from the right-wing Democratic Rally Party led by Glafkos Clerides, and the pro-Moscow Communist Party headed by Ezekias Papaioannou.
