Suns Say Fly Now, Sign Later

Phoenix Sun players have refused to autograph promotional items for the National Basketball Assn. because the club will not allow them to claim mileage under airline promotion programs.
Rick Robey, the Suns’ representative to the NBA Players Assn., said the action was taken “on the advice of the head of our union.” He said the players will continue to sign autographs outside the locker room and for charity items.
The Suns have argued that bonus mileage, which results in free travel and other awards, belongs to the club and not the traveler.
