Michel Goulet scored at 17:51 of the third period to give the Quebec Nordiques a 1-1 overtime tie with the Boston Bruins Thursday night at Boston.
Boston Coach Butch Goring thought his Boston Bruins were going “to sneak away with two points” for a victory.
“But we didn’t get lucky enough,” Goring said. “We didn’t deserve the (second) point. They completely dominated us. They outshot us by nearly 2 to 1. We should be thanking our lucky stars we got one point.”
Said Quebec goalie Clint Malarchuk, who had 22 saves to 41 for Boston counterpart Pat Riggin: “We deserved the two points. When you don’t get the two points in a game like this, it can be a little depressing, but that’s hockey. The main thing is, we didn’t lose.”
Philadelphia 6, Montreal 3--Tim Kerr scored two goals, and Dave Poulin added a goal and an assist to lead the Flyers at Philadelphia.
Two of Kerr’s goals came in a five-goal outburst in the second period that gave the Flyers a 6-1 lead.
