George Foreman, former heavyweight boxing champion, received the U.S. Information Agency’s award for outstanding service for his good-will tour of Africa earlier this year.
Foreman, who held the undisputed heavyweight title in 1973-74 and won the Olympic gold medal in the 1968 Mexico City Games, held boxing clinics in Nigeria and Cameroon as part of the agency’s Sports America program. The program sends American athletes overseas on good-will missions for the U.S. government.
