“OK, Lady--we’ll let you go see your doctor--but keep your lip zipped if you ever want to see your old man again!” Reads like a line from some cheap detective story, doesn’t it? But that’s the way the government of the U.S.S.R. is behaving in the Yelena Bonner/ Andrei Sakharov case.
One of the two great powers in the world today acts like a gang of nasty hoodlums, which ought to tell us something about the Union of Silently Swallowed Republics that only the most cement-headed leftist would deny.
