The Pacific 10’s chancellors and presidents have agreed on a $125,000 minimum guarantee per football game starting in 1986. The previous minimum guarantee was $75,000.

The guarantee also was increased in basketball, from $7,500 to $12,500.

Under Pac-10 bylaws, the schools either split the net proceeds up to $200,000, or the home team pays the visitor the guarantee, whichever is larger.

USC, UCLA and Arizona State reportedly led the move to raise the ante last summer and suggested a $150,000 figure, but league officials compromised at $125,000.

The increase in the guarantee will put some pressure on schools such as Washington State and Oregon State, which had to scrape in the past to come up with the $75,000 minimum for the visiting team.
