Rolando Baluyot Silva found his wife, Nelia Silva, 33, and his 2-year-old daughter, Katherine, bludgeoned to death when he returned home about 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police.
Police spokesman Bill Robinson said fire and police units were dispatched to the 1300 block of Piedra Street in South San Diego for what at first was thought to be a structure fire. Upon entering the smoke-filled house, police saw no signs of a fire but found food burning in pots on the stove.
Robinson said witnesses heard about the incident when Silva, 34, was yelling for help from his front yard. Neighbors then called for help.
Robinson said investigators have questioned neighbors and Silva, but no motive has been determined and no suspects have been taken into custody.
