Women’s Basketball Roundup : Saddleback Scores an Upset Over Fullerton

The Saddleback College women’s basketball team handed Fullerton its first home loss in conference play in 13 years Friday night, scoring a 78-67 victory.
Center Connie Waikle scored 39 points, and Cheryl Eiland added 20 points and 21 rebounds. Waikle made 19 of 23 field-goal attempts.
The Gauchos took a half-game lead in the South Coast Conference at 5-1. Fullerton and Orange Coast College trail at 4-1.
In other South Coast Conference action:
Golden West 80, Cypress 70--Freshman Shanna Beer scored 24 points to lead the Rustlers past the Chargers at Cypress. Sophomore Janet Jenson scored 17 points, but it was not enough as the Chargers fell to 0-5 and 5-11.
Orange Coast 77, Rancho Santiago 52--Lisa Shumaker scored 14 points to pace the Pirates (4-1 and 15-1) to the win.
