3 Inmates Recaptured After Killing Deputy

GREENWOOD, Miss. — Three inmates shot and killed a sheriff’s deputy Thursday and escaped into the Mississippi Delta, but authorities recaptured the fugitives less than three hours later.
The inmates apparently overpowered and shot Rankin County Deputy T.O. Biddle, who was transporting them from Brandon to the state penitentiary in Parchman.
