Magic Says He’ll Play in All-Star Game

HOUSTON — The Lakers’ Magic Johnson, still recovering from an injury to his right knee, said Thursday night that he will play in Sunday’s National Basketball Assn. All-Star game.
“I’m feeling pretty good right now, and there’s no swelling, so I thought I’d go ahead and try it,” he said after 117-95 win over the Rockets.
Johnson made his decision after consulting with Laker trainer Gary Vitti.
“If he doesn’t go overboard and plays about 30 minutes and keeps his knee well-padded, he should be all right,” Vitti said.
