Preservation of Historic Buildings

William Baer’s claim is the most myopic view I have seen in years. Los Angeles is undergoing a renaissance of building restoration today, some of it right in Baer’s own backyard, near USC. As the owner of a National Register property in Los Angeles that is used constantly for film and advertising locations, I can attest to the future and profitability of historic preservation, even in Los Angeles. I think Mr. Baer would be surprised at how much in Los Angeles has potential for adaptive reuse. I even recycled Mr. Baer’s column as a liner for my bird cage!
