Controlled Burn Set in Hills Above Tarzana

Los Angeles city and county firefighters set fire Wednesday to about 100 acres in the hills above Tarzana in a controlled burn designed to clear grass and brush before the high-risk fire season, city fire officials said.
The burnoff of 440 acres is in an area on the south side of Mulholland Drive above Vanalden Street, Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Jim Williamson said. It is expected to continue today and Friday, he said.
