Judy’s Quarterly Income Off, Despite Rise in Sales

Judy’s said its net income fell 13%, to $114,000 or 3 cents a share, in the first quarter ended April 30, despite a 5% increase in sales--to $12.3 million--over the same quarter last year.
The Van Nuys-based chain of clothing stores blamed a 5% rise in expenses for the quarter, to $12.1 million.
