ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Olympic gold medalist Frank Tate extended his pro boxing record to 13-0 Friday night, stopping Brian Muller in the seventh round of a scheduled 10-round middleweight bout.
Tate, the light-middleweight champion at the 1984 L.A. Olympics, decked the southpaw Muller with a chopping right hand, then pounded Muller around the ring until referee Paul Venti halted the bout at 2:34 of the seventh round.
The 23-year-old Tate, a Detroit native now living in Houston, has nine knockouts in his 13 victories. Muller, 32, of Las Vegas, fell to 20-3-1.
