The House Armed Services Committee voted 40 to 2 to pass a revised Pentagon budget that proposes spending $292 billion for defense in the fiscal year starting Oct. 1. The new budget is a $7-billion increase from the bill the panel approved a month ago and the change reflects the House-Senate agreement on $292 billion for defense as part of an overall budget blueprint. The Democratic-controlled House had approved $285 billion for defense and the Republican-run Senate voted for $301 billion. President Reagan had sought $320 billion.
