Kansas City Royals Manager Dick Howser was in satisfactory condition at the hospital where he will begin radiation therapy this week for treatment of malignant brain tumor.
The Royals said “it is anticipated” Howser will be released in about one week and his therapy will continue on an outpatient basis.
Mike Ferraro, the Royals’ third-base coach and a longtime friend of Howser’s has been named interim manager for the remainder of the season.
