The Orange County National Issues Forum, a group that organizes community discussions on social issues, will hold a seminar Sept. 18 in Irvine to train forum hosts.
Paula Menkin, a group discussion trainer, is conducting the daylong course--from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.--at the University of Redlands Orange County campus, 18818 Teller Ave., Suite 160.
Participants should register for the training session by Sept. 15 so they can read a 43-page booklet in advance, said Faith Gordon, National Issues Forum secretary.
The booklet will provide basic information on U.S. immigration policies, which will be the topic of a mock debate during the seminar and one of three issues being debated this year in more than 200 discussion groups nationwide.
Those completing the training seminar become members of National Issues Forum and are expected to become hosts at forums in their communities.
The cost of the training session is $10, which covers lunch. To enroll, the organization can be reached at (714) 937-9078.
