A RIVERS RUN-IN

Regarding the Sept. 28 Outtakes item by Peter H. Brown and Jim Pinkston about Dick Maurice’s supposed book on Joan Rivers that Rivers tried to suppress in spite of the fact that her own autobiography, “Enter Talking,” had already been sold to Delacorte:
The item implied that Rivers and her representatives were trying to prevent Dick Maurice from getting a publishing deal for his book . . . all of which is untrue.
Had anyone bothered to check they would have learned this is the very same Dick Maurice who phonied up an interview with psychic Tamara Rand predicting the assassination attempt on President Reagan.
Feel sorry for Dick Maurice? Who would if they knew the truth about him?

Maurice told Calendar he was “the first to admit that what I did was wrong.” He has “paid the price” for his mistake, which he confessed to publicly after the hoax came to light. “It’s old news and has nothing to do with what I’m doing now,” he insisted. He currently is entertainment editor of the Las Vegas Sun; editor of Showbiz magazine, a Las Vegas cable guide/entertainment magazine, and last year hosted “Showbiz Magazine” on the Satellite Program Network.
