A man and his teen-aged daughter were killed late Sunday when the motorcycle they were riding swerved across the center line on Magic Mountain Parkway in Newhall and collided head-on with a van, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Samuel C. Anderson, 43, of Inglewood, and his daughter, Chantil Anderson, 17, of Canyon Country, died in the collision, which occurred about 9 p.m. near a stretch of the parkway known as Edison Curve, Officer Joe Rojas said.
The driver of the van, Odilon Carrillo, 23, of Sylmar, suffered severe injuries when he struck his steering wheel in the collision, Rojas said. Carrillo was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where a spokeswoman said he was in fair condition.
Rojas said two other people riding on a motorcycle behind the one that struck the van suffered cuts and bruises when they swerved off the road.
