A red tide of toxic organisms that has killed hundreds of thousands of fish on the Texas coast forced the closing of Corpus Christi beaches and then spread south. A state biologist said a cold front that was expected to stall the red tide that has plagued the Texas coast for seven weeks instead spread it toward the Mexican border.
