An Oceanside man was killed by a car Saturday while walking along The Strand.
The driver, who might have had an epileptic seizure, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, Oceanside Police Officer Philip Tate said.
Donald Anson, 29, was walking north in the 300 block of South Strand about 9:30 a.m. when a car driven by Randolph McCabe, 26, also of Oceanside, approached from behind and swerved into Anson, Tate said.
Anson was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where he died while undergoing surgery.
“There is some indication that he (McCabe) went into an epileptic seizure,” Tate said. “He said he blanked out and cannot remember what happened.”
McCabe was transported to County Jail in Vista, where he is being held in lieu of an unspecified amount of bail.
