A federal judge cleared the way for the start of former auto maker John Z. DeLorean’s trial on federal charges that he bilked investors in his sports car company of $8.9 million. Opening arguments in the trial may begin today . . . Time Inc. said Sports Illustrated magazine has acquired an option to buy Women’s Sports & Fitness, a monthly magazine . . . International Rectifier Corp. and National Semiconductor Corp. said they will work together to develop products in the power integrated-circuit business . . . Daisy Systems, a Mountain View, Calif., computer firm, was fined $50,000 by a Massachusetts state judge after pleading guilty to charges that it failed to pay taxes on $2.3 million of sales to Massachusetts customers.
