Superior Sales Rise 13% but Profit Is Flat

Superior Industries, a Van Nuys-based maker of auto wheel rims, said its third-quarter profit was nearly unchanged from last year despite a 13% increase in sales.
Net income rose less than 0.1%, to $1.4 million, or 24 cents a share, on sales of $35.6 million.
The company announced last month that net income for the quarter would be flat because shutdowns at a number of auto plants deferred many of its orders from September to October.
For the first nine months of the year, Superior said its profit rose nearly 16%, to $6.4 million, or $1.08 a share. Sales were up more than 13%, to $35.6 million.
