El Toro Still Ranked No. 1; Undefeated Loara Is No. 3

El Toro High School remained the top-ranked team in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep football poll, but four of last week’s top 10 teams suffered defeats.
Esperanza, Edison, Servite and Troy all lost, but only Troy dropped from the poll. Loara, bidding for its first undefeated season since 1970, moved to third behind El Toro and Saddleback.
In the featured game this week, El Toro will play host to Capistrano Valley at 7:30 Friday night at Mission Viejo High. The game features quarterbacks Bret Johnson of El Toro and Todd Marinovich of Capistrano Valley.
