Reading Donna Perlmutter’s interview with John Currie, the new director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale (“Currie Puts His Stamp on L.A. Chorale,” Nov. 2), reminded me of an interview held many years ago with the Russian pianist, Vladimir de Pachmann.
When asked about his opinion regarding some of his colleagues, De Pachmann replied, “There are only two great pianists. The other one is Leopold Godowsky.”
