JERUSALEM — Israel’s first liver transplant patient died Saturday of internal bleeding, losing a 19-day battle for her life, while a second person who received a liver transplant remained in critical condition.
Mira Schichmanter, 40, died early Saturday at the Ramban Medical Center in Haifa of internal bleeding unrelated to the transplant operation, hospital director Dr. Albert Satinger said.
The two transplants were performed last month on Health Ministry orders.
