Former Southeast Police Chief Dies

Merritt H. Armstrong, a retired Huntington Park police chief, died Dec. 29 in Laguna Hills. Armstrong, 88, retired in 1957 after a 23-year career with the Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, Leila May; two sons, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert W. Armstrong, who is based in Norwalk, and Harold Armstrong of Laguna Beach; and a daughter, Patricia Mitchell of Rolla, Mo.
