SYDNEY, Australia — Rock star Elton John was discharged from a Sydney hospital Thursday after being told he doesn’t have cancer. The singer’s surgeon, Dr. John Tonkin, said a biopsy carried out after the singer’s throat operation Tuesday revealed he had a non-malignant lesion.
“He is expected to make a full recovery,” Tonkin said.
The singer’s Australian publicist, Patti Mostyn, said John was resting at his hotel and probably would stay in Australia a further six weeks. “It will take that long for the wounds to heal, and Tonkin wants to keep a check on his progress,” she said.
