Orange County Community College Basketball : Ailing Rancho Santiago Wins

Rancho Santiago College played without three starters Thursday night but still defeated the Pomona-Pitzer junior varsity, 101-81, in a nonconference game at Pomona.
Don guards Simon Thomas and Chris Jefferson sat out the game with the flu, and Howard Cole was sidelined with a knee injury.
Forward Ralph Garcia scored 24 points to lead Rancho Santiago (17-3), and center Brent Martin and Victor Wharton each had 20. John Todd led Pomona-Pitzer JV with 20.
Rancho Santiago opens Orange Empire Conference play at Riverside Jan. 14.
In women’s basketball:
Cypress 92, Glendale 46--Guard Karen Caires scored 25 points and forward Pam Fritsch added 18 to lead the Chargers, ranked No. 20 in the state, at Cypress. Cypress is 11-7. The Vaqueros are 5-7.
