Israeli soldiers opened fire on a “band of terrorists” trying to enter Israel’s security zone in southern Lebanon, killing four and capturing weapons, including Soviet-made AK-47 automatic rifles, and explosives, military sources said in Tel Aviv. The incident took place west of Braachit, on the edge of the Israeli-controlled buffer zone and six miles north of the Israeli border. Meanwhile, Palestinian sources said that Israeli gunboats pounded guerrilla targets near the Lebanese port city of Sidon for two hours, wounding six people. Israel denied the attack.
