SCC Rally Beats Cal Lutheran

Southern California College rallied from an eight-point deficit to take a 95-87 Golden State Athletic Conference victory Tuesday night at Southern California College.
SCC outscored Cal Lutheran, 24-6, late in the game. The Vanguards led, 88-78, with 1:15 remaining, but three three-point shots by Steve deLaveaga narrowed the final score.
SCC trailed by two at halftime, and took the lead at 75-74 when Randy Wynne, who had missed five games with a severe ankle sprain, made a five-foot shot off an offensive rebound with 6:24 remaining.
Rob Lucas (29 points) and Jon Haar (26 points) led the Vanguards. Wynne added 14.
Cal Lutheran (2-3, 8-13) was 9 for 13 from three-point range, but SCC (3-2, 14-6) shot 56 % from the floor and made 22 of 30 free throws.
In a women’s game:
Cal Lutheran 70, SCC 60--Kim Peppi scored 28 points and Gloria Phillipps added 16 as Cal Lutheran (2-1, 7-11) won at SCC. Delores Effinger scored 22 and Lisa Terry added 19 for the Vanguards (1-4, 7-15)
