San Diego police Thursday were investigating the fatal shooting Wednesday night of a Logan Heights man, police said.
Witnesses told police that Gonzalvo Alvarez, 48, was standing with a group of friends about 7 p.m. in the 3100 block of Clay Street when someone called him to the side of a house, Lt. Connie Van Putten said.
The witnesses told officers they heard gunshots and saw Alvarez fall to the ground. Police were summoned and the victim was taken to Paradise Valley Hospital, where he died about an hour later of multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
Detectives said they do not have a motive or a suspect.
