R.H. Estates : Sewer Study Assessment

The City Council has agreed in concept to assess residents in the Harbor Sight and Spinning Wheel neighborhoods $1,000 per parcel for costs incurred by the city in investigating a sewer district for the area.
If the council approves the resolution, the $1,000 could be due within 30 days of notification or within one year at 10% interest.
According to a report by City Manager Raymond B. Taylor, the city has spent $90,390 investigating the formation of a sewer district for residents on Harbor Sight and Deerhill drives and Sweetgrass and Spinning Wheel lanes.
The city expects to absorb some of the costs and recover $71,000 from the 71 residents. The $1,000 assessment was approved by a majority of the residents in a special election in March, 1985.
Plans for the district were halted last November, however, when a majority of the property owners objected to construction of the sewers, saying they were too costly. Estimated costs ranged from $9,000 to $32,000, depending on the size of the parcel.
