It began last year when Des Moines took umbrage over a San Francisco Examiner promotional ad that suggested that folks in the Iowa city watched television more than they read newspapers. But the feud has ended pleasantly, with Des Moines adopting San Francisco as a sister city. San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein conferred the key to the city on Des Moines publisher Connie Wimer, foreseeing that the two cities will be helpful to each other.
