Orange County Community College Roundup : Appice, Barnhart and Brucato Help Lead Rancho Santiago Over Golden West, 17-4

Frank Appice, Troy Barnhart and Bob Brucato led Rancho Santiago College to a 17-4 victory over Golden West Monday in a nonconference baseball game at Golden West.
Both Appice and Barnhart went 3 for 3 and scored four runs each. Brucato went 5 for 6, scored 3 runs and had 6 RBIs to help Rancho Santiago (5-0) to a 16-1 fourth-inning lead.
Don pitcher Mike Anthony (2-0) gave up four runs, walked seven and struck out two in 5 innings. Jeff Bryant went only 1 inning but gave up eight runs and one walk for the Gauchos (1-1).
El Camino 5, Cypress 4--Mike Seward struck out 3 and allowed eight hits and no walks in eight innings to lead El Camino in the final of the Cypress/Fullerton Tournament at Cypress College. Tom Rodgers hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give El Camino a 3-1 lead. Trevor Hoffman led the Chargers (8-4) with two hits and one RBI. Larry Assayag had three hits for El Camino (6-1) and one RBI.
Cypress 3, Mira Costa 1--After a 0-0 tie in the fifth inning, Rick Nen hit a three-run homer with two outs in the sixth inning to lead Cypress in the tournament’s semifinal game. Michael Aho (1-0) pitched all nine innings for the Chargers.
In softball:
Pasadena 3, Cypress 2--Julie Mee hit an RBI single in the second inning and Gina McGee hit an RBI single in the third in a losing effort for the Chargers (0-1) in a nonconference game at Cypress. The Chargers committed six errors allowing the three Pasadena runs. Pitcher Noel Parker allowed six hits for Cypress in its season opener.
