U.S. Arrest of Pro-Palestinians

I thought the Alien and Sedition laws lapsed some 186 years ago. Apparently not. I was horrified by your account (Times, Jan. 28) of the arbitrary arrests of Arab-born residents, here legally, accused of no crime whatsoever.
My outrage at the Immigration and Naturalization Service is compounded by my embarrassment that protests, at least initially, seem to have come only from the Arab-American community.
I fear we are suffering from the syndrome described in Germany by Pastor Martin Niemoller: He had failed to protests when the Nazis came to arrest Jews, Marxists, unionists . . . “ and then they came for me.”
