Libyan television showed the execution of nine people by hanging or firing squad on charges including treason and the killing of Soviet specialists, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported. The scenes were broadcast in a 20-minute film in the main news program, according to the BBC’s monitoring service in London. The state-controlled Libyan television network said six were hanged for participating in the assassination of Soviet experts and Libyans and for working in secret organizations against Libya, according to the BBC. The broadcast also showed the execution by firing squad of three Libyan servicemen on charges of treason. The broadcast did not identify those executed or their victims.
