Actress Jane Fonda and her husband, California Assemblyman Tom Hayden, declared their support for the outlawed Solidarity labor movement after beginning a visit to Poland on Sunday that is to include a meeting today with its leader, Lech Walesa. “We spoke out on behalf of Solidarity during the (martial law) repression in 1981 and since then we’ve always wanted to come here for a personal expression of our solidarity,” said Hayden. Miss Fonda smiled and flashed a V sign, a symbol of support for Solidarity, for Polish television cameras.
