Community College Roundup : Cypress Defeats San Diego City, 8-3

David Wooley gave up four hits and struck out four in six innings to lead Cypress College over San Diego City, 8-3, in a nonconference baseball game at San Diego City Thursday.
Bill Bentley relieved Wooley in the seventh and allowed four hits. Mike Faddoul went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs and Rey Hernandez went 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI for Cypress (14-6). Troy Brown went 1 for 1 with a double in the ninth. Tony Cutri gave up eight hits and struck out three in nine innings for San Diego City.
In the South Coast Conference:
Fullerton 7, Compton 4--David Wackerman (1-0) allowed five hits, four walks and struck out eight for the Hornets (5-0, 9-3) at Compton. Andy Ruscitto was 2 for 4 with one RBI and a home run in the third, Reggie Brown was 3 for 5 with two singles, a triple, two runs and a stolen base to lead Fullerton.
In Orange Empire Conference softball:
Saddleback 6, Orange Coast 1--Debbie Hartwig went 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Gauchos at Orange Coast. Sue Cukrov allowed three hits and struck out three in seven innings for Saddleback (2-1, 16-2).
Rancho Santiago 10, Riverside City 0--Dawn Robertson (2-2) gave up one hit and struck out seven in seven innings for the Dons (3-0, 9-5) at Riverside. Tina Engel hit a two-run double in the fifth and scored twice and Christy Alvarez went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs for Rancho Santiago.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:
Saddleback 9, Rancho Santiago 0--The Gauchos (2-0) were led by No. 1 singles player Grant Hein who defeated Rancho Santiago’s Larry Baril, 6-0, 6-0, in an Orange Empire conference match at Rancho Santiago. The Dons dropped to 0-2 and 1-5.
Orange Coast 9, Citrus 0--The Pirates swept Citrus at Orange Coast.
