American Nick Thometz clinched the 1,000-meter speed skating World Cup title and won a 500-meter race to increase his lead in that event at Inzell, West Germany.
Thometz, 23, of Minnetonka, Minn., won the 1,000 in 1:15.45. Earlier, he won the 500 in 37.23.
