Warriors in China’s famous 2,000-year-old terracotta army are growing weak at the knees, the official Shanghai Evening News reported Wednesday. Many of the life-size statues of men and horses guarding the tomb of China’s first emperor are suffering from “arthritis,” with the clay around the knees showing signs of weakening, the paper said. “According to analysis, the illness is very possibly the result of the fact that the clay around the joint is very thick and may not have been thoroughly fired,” the paper said.
