Frank Zappa will pen his memoirs for Simon and Schuster. The as-yet-untitled autobiography by the controversial rock composer was described by the publisher as “a mad trip through the outer reaches of contemporary culture over the past 25 years.” Zappa told The Times on Monday that he had finished the book over the weekend. Its focus? “The systematic way in which ignorance has been made to be a desirable norm” in education. Rock fans expecting a tell-all scandal will be disappointed. “I won’t be concentrating on the industrial side of the business,” Zappa said. Instead fans will find out “why I do the music I do.”
