Olivarez of Cypress Signs to Attend USC

Andy Olivarez, a basketball player from Cypress College, signed a letter of intent to attend USC next season, Cypress announced Wednesday.
Olivarez, a 6-foot 2-inch forward, led the Orange Empire Conference in scoring with a 22.2-point average. Overall, he averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists for Cypress.
Olivarez set the Cypress single-game scoring record with 44 points in the Chargers’ 74-73 victory over Navajo Arizona in December.
Olivarez went to Whittier High School and was the Whitmont League’s most valuable player his senior season.
